What Moves Me
Kintsugi, meaning “golden repair,” is a centuries-old Japanese art of fixing broken beloved pottery with a special lacquer dusted with powdered gold, silver or platinum. Beautiful seams glimmer in the cracks of the ceramic celebrating its unique history by emphasizing and appreciating its fractures and breaks instead of hiding or disguising them. Kintsugi makes the repaired piece even more beautiful and beloved than ever imaginable, revitalizing it with new life.
Yoga has been my Kintsugi. Yoga has put all the pieces of my heart back together with gold. Glittering veins now hold remarkable lessons and reminders of where love has lived. Yoga has helped me embrace every single glimmering line of mine. I see all of my heart’s beauty and on days when I might forget… yoga reminds me. Through breath, meditation and mindful movement, yoga has planted a seed of self love deep in the bed of my heart - a seed of self love that has forever changed my life. From that seed, with my diligent sowing, wild flowers continue to bloom.
I was told by a most cherished teacher that “the more we know, the more we owe.” I know I owe it to the world to share the tools yoga has helped me access. I know I owe it to YOU and every student I am granted the gift to teach - to offer up a roadmap to those same seeds of self-love already patiently waiting right in your inherent tool-belt - seeds waiting for YOU to spread them in abundance all over the bed of your heart. Sow Self Love, give yourself a little room, breathe, move and watch all your wildest dreams set root, flourish and with your commitment and showing up - watch them BLOOM.
